Save the delivered test from Gmail as a .eml file
Download the single message that reached your test inbox. This preserves the received source, including the links added by your sending platform.
Download one received message
- Open Gmail on a computer.
Choose the received campaign test in your inbox. A draft or a forwarded copy is a different message.
- Open the message's More menu.
Use the three-dot menu on the open message, rather than a menu for the entire mailbox.
- Choose Download message.
Save the downloaded
.emlfile somewhere you can find it. Downloading a message does not require sending it to anyone. - Check the extension and size.
SendProofs accepts
.emlfiles up to 2 MiB (2,097,152 bytes). A PDF, screenshot or pasted HTML is not the original message source.
These steps were checked against Google's download-message instructions. This is a documentation check, not a test inside your Gmail account.
If the download is not usable
You are using a phone or tablet
Google documents this download route for a computer. Open the same mailbox in a computer browser and follow that route. You do not need to forward the test to another address.
The file is too large
SendProofs rejects oversized messages. Reduce unnecessary embedded material in the test campaign in your sending platform, send a new test to yourself and download that new message. Editing a saved source would change the artifact you meant to check.
Download message is missing
Confirm that an individual message is open and compare your menu with Google's linked instructions. Ask your mailbox administrator or support if your account prevents downloads. Avoid copying source text into an editor as a substitute: formatting and encoding changes can alter the message.
The filename is unfamiliar
The subject may become part of the filename. Renaming the file is fine if its contents are already an original .eml; keep that extension. Renaming a PDF or another format to .eml does not convert it.
Use the saved test
Keep the file in a location appropriate for campaign data. Upload only a test you are authorized to process. SendProofs parses the message transiently and keeps the report fields described in data handling. Do not attach the file to a support email.
The upload help explains the next step. If your test arrived in another mailbox, use the Outlook or Apple Mail guide.
