Get a usable .eml test from Outlook
Outlook versions offer different export formats. Follow the route for your version and check the saved format before uploading it to SendProofs.
Outlook on the web or Outlook.com
- Open the received test.
Select the message in your inbox so it opens in the reading pane, or open it in a separate window.
- Choose More actions, then Download.
The message menu offers the download. Microsoft also documents a right-click Download route from the message list.
- Choose or confirm .eml.
Microsoft's current instructions say the saved message may be
.emlor.msg. Choose.emlwhen offered. SendProofs cannot read a.msgexport. - Check the size.
The accepted limit is 2 MiB (2,097,152 bytes). Keep the downloaded source intact.
New and Classic Outlook for Windows
New Outlook for Windows
Open the received message, choose More actions, then Save as. Microsoft also documents right-clicking the message and choosing Save as. Confirm that the saved format is .eml before uploading.
Classic Outlook for Windows
File, then Save As opens Classic Outlook's format choices. That does not establish that the result is .eml. If your version offers only .msg or other formats, use an authorized Outlook web or New Outlook export that offers .eml. Do not rename .msg to .eml: the contents remain a different format.
Compare your version with Microsoft's message-export instructions. The document has separate New Outlook, Classic Outlook and Web sections. This guide was checked against that document; it was not tested in your mailbox.
Before retrying an upload
The option is missing
Check that you opened a received message and selected instructions for your Outlook version. If a work or school account restricts download, ask its administrator. A missing button alone does not prove an administrator policy is responsible.
The file is .msg, PDF or HTML
Stop and export a supported original source. Printing to PDF preserves a view of the email, not the MIME message SendProofs parses. Avoid online conversion services for campaign data unless your organization has explicitly approved them.
The file is over 2 MiB
Reduce unnecessary embedded content in your sending platform and generate a fresh received test. A different source is a different check, so label and retain the latest result clearly.
Upload only a test you are entitled to process. The data-handling page lists stored report fields; do not attach the email to a support request. See upload help for the next step or the Gmail and Apple Mail export guides.
